How often I cry out to God, silently or aloud. When I read this psalm, I was inspired and comforted by the fact that good and fine people cry out to God in their time of need. I trust that God is happy to hear from us…in any form that is open to God’s presence. It gave me courage to sing my feelings, from the depths of my soul.
This song can add beauty to the responsorial psalm any Sunday when Psalm 130 is used. It is also used in Christian Initiation (RCIA) preparation when discussing suffering as part of the journey of life, and the truth that “no suffering is wasted on a Christian.” It would enhance a reconciliation service as well.
