I was feeling particularly broken apart one day, when I heard the words from Isaiah: “I make all things new.” These are the same words Jesus says to Mary in the movie “The Passion of Christ” while carrying the cross to Calvary. I can’t hear these words, much less sing them, without tears of joy and sorrow simultaneously. Sorrow for the times I won’t believe them. Joy for the times I do.
This song is well-used during Advent, and also during Lent. The message of Isaiah is the theme of our personal reconciliation as well. Therefore, it can be put to good use during a reconciliation service as well as Masses during both seasons of preparation. As well, it may give comfort and peace for a Mass of Resurrection
